IMP Base Platform

Designed from scratch for large deployments, the Intelligent Message Processor (IMP) is a scalable messaging engine. It is capable of analyzing every message in a message stream, modifying it as needed and sending it in the right direction — all in real time. The IMP Base Platform, typically deployed at the network edge or on internal boundaries of networks, is the core of the IMP product family.

The IMP collapses traditional layered E-mail and messaging infrastructures, thus removing complexity and administration overhead. Deployed in an edge architecture, it cuts over 70% of operations expenses, freeing resources for other revenue-generating projects.

Customers can choose the applications that best meet their needs because of the on-platform integration with best-of-breed messaging vendors of anti-virus, anti-spam, encryption and other applications Therefore, customers do not have to worry about integrating these applications and associated issues with performance, management integration, systems or network architecture. With a sustainable single-system performance of managing over 8 million messages per hour in real environments, Bizanga’s IMP easily scales to meet every demand.

Its workflow policy processor allows customers to provide individualized E-mail and messaging services, customized to fit any requirement. As network services expand and requirements change, the network or messaging architecture will not require modifications. To accommodate changing needs, the IMP's workflow policy only needs an easy and fast reconfiguration. Any configuration changes can be done on the running system with no impact on the mailflow and no need to restart.

Most IMP cluster installations complete within days, not weeks or months, doing away with the usual integration woes. One reason for this is that IMP clusters directly and easily interface with all major message stores, database vendors, provisioning and billing systems, directory platforms and legacy E-mail servers.

Key Benefits

  • Lowers Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for typical large E-mail or messaging infrastructure up to 75%
  • Cuts time to market from months to days
  • Maximizes asset use and usable life of current assets
  • Grows with customer needs giving it unmatched scalability
  • Coordinates message flow, application integration and message management with its unique workflow policy processor
  • Ensures industry-leading integration efficiency through SOA and open architecture
  • Works with all message stores and existing E-mail infrastructure
  • Integrates on-system with best-of-breed messaging vendors for various applications
  • Consolidates management interface for IMP and integrated applications
  • Multi-protocol capable through optional protocol software modules

Features

With revolutionary single-system performance, clustering the IMP achieves almost infinite scalability. Combined with the open architecture and complete configurability of every option on the system and its low operational overhead, the IMP tackles any E-mail and messaging challenge.

Impact

IMP deployments have an immediate bottom-line impact with a payback period of a few months, sometimes even on the day the IMP cluster activates. Bizanga’s IMP also lets customers provide more complex, fully customizable messaging products with short time-to-market, a previously unreachable goal.

A lowered hardware footprint and a consolidation of operations platforms remove management expenses and save money. Bizanga products also increase the lifetime of other E-Mail and messaging platform elements by making the best use of these systems through load-balancing and message-surge protection. Clients also experience increased personnel productivity because of less time spent on complex E-Mail and Messaging projects.

Models and Availability

The IMP is available on certified hardware from IBM, HP and Sun Microsystems.

E-Series IMPs work best with smaller point deployments for up to 50,000 users with no reliability requirements. The E-Series IMPs are not available with an SLA.

O-Series IMPs handle large deployments from 50,000 users with full redundancy requirements. When deployed in clusters of two or more systems with maintenance, the O-Series IMPs come with an SLA.

Systems configuration of the IMPs is dependent on intended usage, deployed modules and applications.
